Welcome to Blue Sky Fertility! The team is honored to walk alongside every individual and family beginning this deeply personal journey. Fertility care can come with a wide range of emotions, from hope and anticipation to uncertainty and anxiety. These feelings are valid, and they’re never faced alone. The Blue Sky team is here to support patients every step of the way with compassion, clarity, and expert care.
Molly Brown, Blue Sky’s New Patient Coordinator, has been with the clinic since March 2020. She is often one of the first friendly voices patients hear and brings warmth, empathy, and insight to every interaction. In this blog, Molly shares what new patients need to know to walk into their first visit with confidence.

What to Expect at Your First Appointment
Every journey at Blue Sky Fertility begins with an initial consultation, either in person or virtually via Zoom. The provider assigned for this visit is carefully chosen based on the patient’s medical history and individual needs.
Following the consultation, baseline testing is typically ordered to assess hormone levels and gather information necessary to tailor the next steps. Patients will be asked to call the office on cycle day one (the first day of a menstrual period), which initiates this phase of the process. From there, the care team can better understand where hormone levels are during the cycle and begin making strategic decisions about treatment options.
While it may feel like a lot of information at once, this structure is designed to ensure every patient receives the most thorough and individualized care. Every fertility journey is different, and so is every first visit.
What to Bring With You
All consultations are virtual unless specified by the provider. For virtual consultations, a patient coordinator will contact the patient prior to the appointment to confirm insurance information and arrange payment. These materials can also be uploaded through the secure patient portal in advance of the appointment.
How to Mentally and Emotionally Prepare
Starting fertility care is a big step, and it’s completely normal to feel anxious or overwhelmed. Each person’s emotional response is different, and all are valid.
Some tips for easing nerves before the first appointment include:
- Bringing a trusted support person, if desired
- Writing down questions or concerns ahead of time
- Arriving early to settle in and complete paperwork
- Reminding oneself that simply showing up is a powerful act of hope and courage
The team at Blue Sky Fertility understands how vulnerable this experience can feel and is here to offer guidance, compassion, and encouragement through every phase of care.

Next Steps After the Appointment
After the initial consultation, patients will be instructed to call the office on cycle day one. This allows the clinical team to schedule baseline hormone testing, a crucial step in understanding the patient’s reproductive health and crafting a treatment plan.
Baseline testing may include:
- Bloodwork to assess hormone levels
- An ultrasound to examine ovarian reserve and uterine structure
- Additional diagnostic testing based on the patient’s history
Once results are in, the care team will schedule a follow-up appointment to review findings and finalize next steps, whether that involves ovulation tracking, IUI, IVF, or another form of care. The goal is always the same: to create a plan that aligns with the patient’s body, goals, and emotional readiness.
